PHOTO SERIES - CRASH
2011
On a cold February night, I almost lost my life.
My car hit a patch of ice, spun, & smashed into a telephone pole right behind my head.
The entire back seat had caved in & had I hit the pole a few inches further towards me, I wouldn't be here.
Trying to find the pieces to the put the puzzle together was very frustrating at the time.
I remember nothing from that night.
No one else really knows what happened either, & there are things that went missing from the scene as well.
A good samaritan called 911 & when I was found by paramedics,
I was laying unconscious on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street.
My goal for this series was to re-create that night.
The first set of seven photos is what I may have seen before I blacked out.
What I possibly would've seen if I had been fully conscious.
The second set of seven photos is from an onlooker's point of view, & what they might have witnessed.
I wanted to fill in the blank spaces from the split second before wrapping my car around that pole,
to waking up in the ambulance, frantic as the EMT was cutting my clothes from my body.
